We left the Chena Hot Springs Resort in the very early morning hours on the 21st — the van pulled out just after 3 a.m.

We rode into Fairbanks on Thursday the 19th to see the Museum of the North at the University of Alaska at Fairbanks and to see the International Ice Sculpture championships.  We saw the museum, all right, with a visitor across the parking lot that wasn’t quite what you’d expect on a college campus:

In the early morning hours of the 18th, the smallest of aurora light shows lit up the ridge beyond the airfield.

We had a few “warm” days in Alaska… this thermometer was in the full sun in mid-afternoon…

I now have TWO siblings who have hit the big 6-0 milestone!

60th birthday
