We didn’t get the big snowfall we were forecast to get. We didn’t get very much snow at all. But then it rained on top of the snow… and got cold… and we got:

Still playing with the macro lens today — it is NOT easy to focus close up with this thing if it’s not on a tripod!

You’re not supposed to blow out the background of an image (technically, the whites here are TOO white and TOO bright). But sometimes it just works to disregard The Rules…

The office Christmas tree is still up, and it casts some interesting shadows and reflections on the wall:

Then the controls of the copier machine are pretty neat too. First in color:

Started out the day by taking a close look at Ciara’s back paw:

Then (sigh) it was back to work, where I found a geranium in Howard’s office:

On the way home, I grabbed a quick shot of a fried chicken joint on Broad Street:

Took the 17-55 out into the backyard today to see what there was to see and decided to play around with light and depth of field.

First, the winter skies:

Then I decided I needed some winter color:

Decided to get my lazy (and warm) self out into the fresh (and cold) air and got out to Liberty State Park this afternoon. It’s a beautiful location, just across the Hudson from lower Manhattan, with the Statue of Liberty on one side, Ellis Island as well.

The problem is that I got too many shots — it’s hard to pick just one for today!

First, I got to see some interesting birds, like a red-breasted merganser:

Then I got a decent shot of Miss Liberty as if from a rear view mirror:

There were some gulls hanging around the parking lot nearest to the Statue of Liberty:

Then I headed over to the area just across from Lower Manhattan where, always and forever, there is something missing from the skyline:

While I was there, I saw a bunch of folks doing something I sure would like to do, especially as cold as it was out there today — they were leaving winter behind:

Sigh… now what do I do for an encore tomorrow???

Reminder to self: do a better job of dusting small objects used for macro photos!
